The UW-Whitewater volleyball team, ranked 23rd in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, swept North Central College 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-21) in the final match of the second annual Dig Panici Classic in Whitewater.
The Warhawks controlled the match with a balanced attack. UW-Whitewater hit .296 with 41 kills adding seven aces and eight blocks. The defense held the Cardinals to an attack percentage of .117 with 35 kills.Â
The UW-Whitewater offense improved their efficiency throughout the match opening with a hitting percentage of .188 in the first set. The Warhawks increased that number to .303 in set two and rounded out the contest hitting .394 with 16 kills and just three errors in the final set.Â
Senior right side
Ariel Feiertag (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) led the offensive attack with a match high 13 kills hitting .524 in the contest and added three assist blocks. Sophomore outside
Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) registered 10 kills, seven digs, a solo and an assist block.
In the backcourt, senior libero
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) led all players with 15 digs. Senior setter
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) registered a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs.Â
Defensively at the net, sophomore middle
Sydney Toon (Madison/Middleton) led the way with a solo and three assist blocks.Â
Nobilio and junior defensive specialist
Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) notched two aces a piece from the service line.
