Warhawks 4-0 in Invitational

The UW-W volleyball team went 4-0 in the second UW-Whitewater Invitational of the season to improve to 11-3 this season. The Warhawks topped Bethel University 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-13) in the final match of the invite.

Ariel Feiertag (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) led all hitters in the match with 11 kills, her third consecutive match with double digit kills, and added three assist blocks. Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) dished out 34 assists. Defensively, Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) posted 22 digs to bringing her total to over 200 this season.

The Warhawks open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday, September 18 against UW-La Crosse at 7:00 in Kris Russell Volleyball Arena.

Northwestern Recap
Four Warhawks post double digit kills in UW-W's 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20) win over Northwestern (MN) Saturday morning. Whitewater has one match left in the invite, a 2:00 matchup with Bethel.

Ariel Feiertag (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) pounded down 17 kills and added five total blocks including two solos in the match. Alivia Holman (South Beloit, IL/Rockton Hononegah) posted 11 kills and had five blocks in the win. Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls) and Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead) each recorded ten kills with Ruchti leading all players with six blocks in the match.

Four Warhawks also had double figure dig numbers led by Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) with 21. Setter Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) had 18 to go along with her 45 assists. Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) and Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) added 10 and 11 digs respectively.

Friday Recap
The nineteenth ranked Warhawk volleyball team added two wins to their season total to up their record to 9-3 Friday. UW-W swept Wisconsin Lutheran 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-17) to open the UW-Whitewater Invitational and followed with a 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-14, 30-28) rout of Millikin to cap the night.

Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) led all hitters in the first match with 11 kills in 18 attempts with a .500 attack percentage. Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) posted double figure digs with ten against WLC. Defensively at the net, the Warhawks recorded 18 assist blocks with Alivia Holman (South Beloit, IL/Rockton Hononegah), Pfeifer and Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) each with three.

In the second match of the evening, Millikin turned the tables on UW-W in the blocking category with 15.5 total including 25 assist blocks in the match but the Warhawk hitters will still determined. UW-W outhit Millikin 58-42 in kills with 15 kills or more in three of the four sets.

Ariel Feiertag (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) pounded down a match leading 17 kills and added three assist blocks to lead UW-W. Pfeifer hit .394 with 16 kills. Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) fed the Warhawk hitters for kills 45 times bringing her assist total to 72 for the night. Three Warhawks posted double digit digs led by libero Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) with 19.

The UW-Whitewater Invitational will continue Saturday.
