Warhawks Fall to #11 DePauw

The Warhawk women's tennis team, ranked 30th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, fell to number eleven DePauw 6-3 Thursday in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  Both teams are not only ranked nationally but regionally as well, and both teams feature regionally ranked singles players and doubles teams.

Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial), ranked second in the central region, fell to sixth ranked Kelly Gebert in a three set battle.  Schaefer dropped the first set in a tiebreak, took the second set 6-3, and then fell in the third set by the same score.  Schaefer paired with Alexandra Bayliss (Sheboygan/North) for a bit of redemption as the third ranked doubles team in the central region defeated the fourth ranked doubles team of Kelly Gebert and Maggie MacPahill 8-4.

UW-W lost a couple of close battles at the two and three singles slots but won two other three set matches at five and six singles, their only wins in the singles flights.  Megan Kasten (Verona/Verona), five singles, won her twentieth dual match of the season to join Schaefer and Divelbiss as twenty or more match winners.

The Warhawks also won the two doubles spot in close fashion and lost three doubles in another tight match.
