Travis Morehouse led a sweep in the high jump by UW-Whitewater and met the NCAA III indoor championship provisional qualifying standard at the North Central Triangular in Naperville, Illinois Friday night.  North Central, ranked second in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, won the meet with 152 points, followed by ninth-ranked UW-Whitewater at 105 and Loras College with 45.

meet results

Morehouse jumped 6-8.25, followed by teammates Tom Fisher and Luke Buchholz in second and third, respectively.  Shaun Davis led an even more dominating showing for UW-W, winning the long jump at 22-4.25, with Warhawks also taking the next five places.  Davis' contribution to the team point total also included a second place finish in the weight throw (56-3), which met NCAA III indoor championship provisional qualifying standards, something he had already accomplished this winter.  Teammate Ben Stringer finished third, and his 55-1 is also a provisional mark,

Joe Bailey captured the 200 meters for Whitewater in 22.88, and Aron Kehoe won the 3000 meters in 8:44.65.

Several Warhawks contributed second place points.  Brian Martinezdelacotera was right behind Bailey in the 200 (23.12), Joe Schneider was second in the shot put (49-9), and Ernest Jones was the runnerup in the 55 (6.80).  Also Pete Schroeder in the 400 (51.75) and Mike Schmitt in the triple jump (41-6.5).

UW-Whitewater will return home for its third home meet in four weeks, hosting the Squig Converse Classic Friday beginning at 4:00 in the Kachel Fieldhouse on the UW-W campus.
