The UW-Whitewater women’s tennis team defeated UW-La Crosse 6-3 for their tenth straight dual match victory on Friday in La Crosse. UW-W is now 10-0 overall this season and 5-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-L is 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC.
This is the second closest match of the season for UW-W, the closest being a 5-4 victory over Wheaton back in September. To this point the Warhawks have posted a 79-11 record for dual matches with all flights combined. They have swept their opponents 9-0 on six different occasions, gone 7-2 in two matches, 6-3 in two matches and 5-4 in one match.
Against La Crosse the Warhawks found themselves behind early after losing two of the three doubles matches. However, UW-W took five of the six remaining singles matches for the victory.
A tough battle at the number six singles slot went in favor of UW-W as Kathleen Kappel grinded out a three set victory. Another three set match at the number two singles position went in favor of La Crosse. Complete results are below.

UW-W will compete again on Saturday at Eau Claire when they face off against the host Blugolds at 8:30 am and then take on the Edgewood College Eagles at 12:30 pm.
