UW-Whitewater women's volleyball team defeated Simpson College 3-1 Saturday afternoon (25-16, 25-20, 21-25, 25-15). The Warhawks improve their season record to 29-6 and Simpson stands at 19-12.

UW-Whitewater had everything working for them in the first set, gradually increasing their lead throughout the set as they rolled to an easy 25-16 win.
The Storm kept it a little closer in the second set. The Warhawk hitters and blockers stood tall at the net and proved to be too much for Simpson to handle as UW-W started to pull away after a Storm timeout with a three point lead 22-19. Whitewater finished out the set strong winning 25-20.
Simpson jumped out to a quick lead in the third set going up five (12-7) when UW-W called their first timeout. The Warhawks battled back to tie it up at 16 apiece. The Storm scored five of the next eight points to regain the lead 21-18 when UW-W called a second timeout. Whitewater fought but couldn't overcome the deficit and lost the third set 25-21.
Whitewater hitters came out with a vengeance in the fourth set and coupled with good defense the Warhawks took the set 25-15 and the match.
Caitlin Hogan led the Warhawks with 14 kills and
Melissa Zuleger and
Katy Krajnak added five blocks apiece.
Alyssa Bauer had 20 digs and
Alyse Karls dished out 38 of the 43 assists.
The Warhawks received a first round bye in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament and will play the winner of Stevens Point and Plattville on November 6th at 5:00 in Oshkosh.
