MULTI-SPORT COMPLEX INFORMATION

May 1 Update ... Kachel Family Makes Major Donation

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, already among the top intercollegiate athletic programs in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, is looking to build on that success, literally, for the future.Work began in 2006 on the Multi-Sport Complex and the entire complex will be finished by 2009. The projected cost for the entire facility is $7,539,000.

Dr. Paul Plinske, UW-W director of athletics noted, "It's been a long time coming for the outdoor sports of baseball, soccer, softball and track & field. Our quest to be one of the best NCAA Division III schools in the country must start with our facilities. Students, staff, families, friends and alumni are called to join our quest to finish this important endeavor. We need your support!"

"Our student-athletes deserve the chance to perform in state-of-the-art facilities ... and our fans and the community are ready to enjoy all the amenities of a first-class operation with stadium seating, rest rooms, and concessions, " Plinske added.

Specific highlights of the plan for each sport include:

Prucha Baseball Field:  Will receive an upgraded sound system, new fencing, entry statement, irrigation system, field lighting, and complete work on the current service building. The field will feature synthetic turf and a new service building will include restrooms and concessions.

Multi-Sport Complex (Fiskum Soccer Field/Foster Track & Field ):  Will feature a 1,700-seat stadium with press box, 9-lane competition track, natural grass surface, areas for jumps (long jump, triple jump, pole vault), provisions for  throwing events (shot put, discus, hammer and javelin), fencing, entry statement, irrigation system, field lighting, and scoreboard.

Van Steenderen Softball Complex : Along with a 300-seat stadium plans include a service building with press box, rest rooms, and concessions, renovated playing field surface, sound system, fencing, entry statement, irrigation system, field lighting, and scoreboard.

Perkins Stadium: New synthetic turf, along with new entry statements, will enhance this remarkable facility.  A new state-of-the-art scoreboard was added in 2007 to showcase our student-athletes on the instant replay board designed by Daktronics.

The new, and renovated, outdoor facilities will join an impressive array of facilities made possible by the generosity of UW-W students, the state of Wisconsin and UW System, and individual donors.  Perkins Stadium, opened in 1970, remains a jewel among Division III football facilities.  Along with the building of the Kachel Fieldhouse in 2001, Williams Center was renovated, giving UW-W's sports outstanding competitive arenas, practice facilities and support areas.  More recently, the Williams Center tennis courts were rebuilt, and the Student Athletic Center was constructed east of the stadium.
