University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball senior Daytona Bryden (Rockton, IL/Hononegah) was selected NCAA Division III National Hitter of the Week for March 19-25 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
 
Bryden, an outfielder, hit for the cycle in the Warhawks' 16-4 victory over Grinnell (Iowa) on Sunday. He led off the game with a home run, singled in the fourth, tripled in the fifth and doubled in the sixth to complete a 4-for-5 performance, totaling three runs scored and two runs batted in.
 
Bryden also reached base five times, scored three runs and knocked in another in UW-Whitewater's 9-4 triumph over Lawrence on Friday. He collected two hits apiece in the Warhawks' wins over Hope (Mich.) on March 21 and then-No. 11 Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) one day later.
 
During UW-Whitewater's 5-0 week, Bryden hit .650 (13-for-20) with two doubles, two triples, 12 runs scored and five RBI.
 
After completing a 6-2 run in games played at the RussMatt Invitational in Central Florida, the No. 2 ranked Warhawks return to action Friday to face Ripon at 3 p.m. at Miller Stadium.
