The No. 12 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship this Friday and Saturday at Kachel Gymnasium in Whitewater.
The Warhawks (24-3 overall) will face UW-Superior in the first round Friday at 7 p.m.. The Yellowjackets earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament championship.
Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) and No. 20 Rose-Hulman (Ind.) complete the four-team pod and will square off in the first round at 5 p.m.. The Gusties earned a Pool C, or at-large, berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Engineers claimed an automatic bid by winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title.
Saturday's game between the two advancing teams will tip off at 7 p.m.
UW-Whitewater earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's automatic bid after sweeping the conference regular season and tournament championships for the first time in program history. The team defeated No. 23 UW-Oshkosh Saturday in a thrilling 68-65 contest to secure its second straight league tournament title.
The Warhawks were first in the NCAA Midwest Region rankings last week.
