University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball senior
Cole Van Schyndel (Kaukauna, Wis./Wrightstown) has been selected as a member of the 2016-17 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court.
To be recognized, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year, must be of junior or senior academic standing and must have spent at least one year at their current institution.
Van Schyndel earned his bachelor's in in psychology and garnered 2016-17 UW-Whitewater Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete accolades. He appeared in 26 games to help the Warhawks reach the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament and finish the season with a 22-7 record.
As a junior in 2015-16, Van Schyndel was tabbed honorable mention All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after averaging 12.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 61.9 percent from the floor, good for first in the WIAC and 14th in NCAA Division III.
Van Schyndel was also a contributor to the 2014-15 WIAC regular season and tournament title team and the 2014 NCAA Division III national championship team.
