Haley Morelli (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) and junior
Mallory Klotz (New Berlin, Wis./West) were selected National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-America for their performances during the 2017 season.
Klotz, a left fielder, was named to the first team, while Morelli, a right fielder, garnered third team accolades. They are the first Warhawk teammates to earn All-America honors in the same season since Jessica Stang and Emily Epifanio in 2011.
The duo helped UW-Whitewater sweep the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships with a perfect 17-0 record against conference foes. The team finished with a 37-9 mark overall and hosted a regional round of the NCAA Division III Championship in the midst of its 20th appearance in the national tournament.
Klotz, a 2017 first team All-WIAC and All-Great Lakes Region selection, ranked fourth in NCAA Division III in both hits (71) and total bases (116), setting the school record for hits in one season. She also finished 14th in runs per game (1.27), 22nd in batting average (.470) and 33rd in slugging percentage (.768).
Klotz also led the conference in on-base percentage (.531) and finished second in both home runs (9) and walks (21). She was tabbed WIAC Position Player of the Week and NFCA/Louisville Slugger Division III National Player of the Week for her performance from March 20-26, when she finished 12-of-16 at the plate to help the Warhawks post a 5-1 record in games at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
Klotz was named to the NCAA Whitewater Regional's All-Tournament team after tallying six hits, including one home run, and two RBI in three games.
Morelli led the WIAC and ranked among the nation's top 20 in home runs (12) and runs batted in (48), good for top five all-time marks in one season in program history. A two-time WIAC Position Player of the Week during the season, Morelli ranked second in the league in batting average (.424), slugging percentage (.741) and total bases (103), and was third in on-base percentage (.491) and hits (59).
Morelli garnered WIAC Position Player of the Year, first team All-WIAC and first team NFCA All-Great Lakes Region accolades earlier this month.
