The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team posted its fourth consecutive score above 190 in a 192.125-188.850 triumph over Hamline (Minn.) in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meet at the Williams Center.
The Warhawks (8-3 overall, 5-1 WIAC) recorded their third-highest team score of the season and the No. 6 mark in program history.
UW-Whitewater finished with its second-highest score on the uneven parallel bars in program history with a 48.375 and tallied a season-best in the floor exercise of 48.525, the third-highest score in the team's record book.
The Warhawks also registered top 20 all time scores on the vault (47.825) and the balance beam (47.450).
Prior to and following the meet, UW-Whitewater recognized seniors
Katie Fiorilli (Solon, OH/Solon),
Kelsea Fischer (Grandville, MI/Grandville),
McKenzie Foster (Manitou Beach, MI/Addison),
Courtney Pickett (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) and
Mackenzie Smith (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) on the day of their final home competition.
Fiorilli placed first on the vault with a 9.675 and was followed closely by sophomore
Lisa O'Donnell (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West), who collected a 9.575. Pickett tied for sixth with a 9.550, junior
Chloe Rehberg (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) posted a 9.525 to tie for eighth and junior
Lewa Evans (Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) and freshman
Lauren Marshall (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) tied for 10th with matching scores of 9.500.
The Warhawks placed in the top five spots on the bars as Smith took the event with a season-high 9.800, which ties for the No. 2 score in program history. Junior
Kate Mierow (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) finished second with a 9.675, Foster placed third with a 9.650, Fiorilli finished fourth with a 9.625 and sophomore
Bailey Fitzpatrick (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) earned the fifth spot with a 9.575.
O'Donnell and sophomore
Franchesca Hutton (Shakopee, Minn./Main Street School of Performing Arts) tied for first on the balance beam with identical tallies of 9.550. Pickett recorded a 9.500 to tie for third, Smith placed fifth with a 9.475 and Evans collected a 9.375 to finish seventh.
UW-Whitewater took five of the top six spots in the floor exercise and was led by O'Donnell, who won the event with a season high-tying 9.800, which ties the seventh-best score in program history. Mierow entered the top 20 of the program's record book with a 9.750, and Fiorilli tied for third with a 9.675. Evans and Pickett rounded out Warhawk scoring with matching 9.650s, good for a tie for fifth.
O'Donnell was the lone all-arounder at the meet and totalted a 37.775.
UW-Whitewater enters the postseason Friday with the WIAC/NCGA West Regional Championship at Winona State. Competition begins at 5:30 p.m.
