WBCA NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's basketball teams are each ranked 11th in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 polls released this week.
Each team's ranking will carry through to the New Year as new rankings will not be released again until Jan. 2 due to the holidays.
Men
The Warhawks slipped one spot despite an 83-58 victory at Beloit last Wednesday. Sophomore center
Riley Jensen (Milton, Wis./Janesville Craig) tallied a career-high 18 points to lead UW-Whitewater, which entered a 16-day break with an 8-1 record.
The Warhawks continue action Friday-Saturday, Dec. 29-30, at the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament at St. Norbert College. The team faces Finlandia (Mich.) on the 29th at 5 p.m. before taking on either St. Norbert, which is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com poll, or Blackburn (Ill.) on the 30th at 5 or 7 p.m.
Women
The Warhawk women moved up two spots after doubling up MSOE 64-32 at home last Tuesday, Dec. 12. Senior guard
Brooke Trewyn (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) and sophomore guard
Camri Conley (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) tallied 11 points apiece, and Trewyn became the program's 16th player to reach the 1,000-career points plateau.
The team moved up one spot to No. 17 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.
On Monday, UW-Whitewater opened the Cruzin' Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with a 68-47 triumph over Eastern Connecticut State. Senior guard
Malia Smith (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley) posted 16 points to lead the team, which forced 25 turnovers and held a 55-32 rebounding advantage.
After facing Central (Iowa) Tuesday at 3 p.m. Central Time, the Warhawks will have a 10-day break in the schedule before competing at the Wartburg Holiday Tournament on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 29-30, in Waverly, Iowa. The team will take on No. 17 Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) on the 29th at 4 p.m. before facing either UW-Superior or No. 4 Wartburg on the 30th at 1 or 3 p.m.
