WBCA NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team remained among the top 20 in the nation in a pair of polls released earlier this week.
The Warhawks (7-0 overall) stayed at No. 13 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 and held at 18th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.
UW-Whitewater played only one game last week, downing Coe (Iowa) 53-51 on the road on Saturday. Senior guard
Malia Smith (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and senior forward
Andrea Meinert (West Bend, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) totaled 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the team.
Both polls were released prior to the Warhawks' 64-32 triumph over MSOE on Tuesday night at Kachel Gymnasium. Senior guard
Brooke Trewyn (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) scored 11 points and became the 16th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone for her career. Sophomore guard
Camri Conley (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) added 11 points for UW-Whitewater, which finished with 23 offensive rebounds.
UW-Whitewater visits Fort Lauderdale, Fla., next week for the two-day Cruzin' Classic. The team faces Eastern Connecticut State Monday at 3 p.m. Central Time before closing out the tournament Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Central (Iowa).
The Warhawks close the calendar year Dec. 29-30 at the Wartburg Holiday Tournament in Waverly, Iowa. The team opens play against UW-Superior before a showdown against either Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) or Wartburg, who are each undefeated and ranked among the top 20 in both polls entering this week.
