The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team has begun renovation plans for the team clubhouse as well as the addition of a press box and concession stand behind home plate at James B. Miller Stadium.
According to the latest plans from Kahler Slater, the clubhouse will remain down the first base line and receive several major updates, including the latest branding, a social suite and patio, an expanded team locker room, meeting room and players lounge, and a kitchenette.
"This project will solidify Warhawk Baseball's position as the top Division III program in the country," UW-Whitewater coach
John Vodenlich said. "Having a facility like this will give our student-athletes the best opportunities to be successful."
The renovation will also house three offices for coaches overlooking the stadium along with a training room to be used by student-athletes from multiple sports.
The area behind home plate is slated to become a patio with outdoor furniture surrounding the two-story press box, which will include a first-floor concession area and a second-floor media and operations room.
Fundraising for the project is nearly complete thanks to an anonymous donation, one of the largest single pledge donations ever made to Warhawk Athletics. Additional fundraising initiatives will be launched soon.
"We're very thankful for the anonymous donation made to support this project," Vodenlich said. "We're also excited for our alumni to get involved with supporting this campaign and show the rest of college baseball that we are truly Powered By Tradition."
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in 2017.
