University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball junior Mike Nompleggi (Oconto Falls/Oconto Falls) was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for the week of March 29-April 3.
 
Nompleggi, a right-handed pitcher, tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings to help the Warhawks defeat fellow 2015 NCAA qualifier Castleton (Vt.) by a 2-1 score last on March 29. The win helped UW-Whitewater remain undefeated on the season.
 
After relieving starter Curtis Morgan (Green Lake/Green Lake) with one out in the third inning, Nompleggi (1-0) allowed just two hits the rest of the way, striking out six in the performances. He recorded seven outs by fly ball and six by ground ball.
 
In three appearances this season, Nompleggi has a 2.13 earned run average and 14 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings.
 
Last season, Nompleggi finished with a 5-1 record with three saves and a 2.72 ERA while holding opponents to a .222 batting average, good for second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
