Cincy Jungle Story
Former University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football standout Jake Kumerow has been promoted to the active roster of the Cincinnati Bengals for the team's 2016 season finale this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
Kumerow, a wide receiver for the Warhawks from 2012-14, has spent the last two seasons on the Bengals' practice squad after being signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 National Football League Draft.
During his time at UW-Whitewater, Kumerow twice earned All-America honors in leading the Warhawks to consecutive national championships in 2013 and 2014. He was tabbed the National Offensive Player of the Year by D3football.com in 2014 and finished his career as the program's all time leader in receiving touchdowns (36).
Following the conclusion of his career, Kumerow was the lone Division III student-athlete selected to compete in the NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl. He was projected by some pundits as a sixth- or seventh-round draft pick before being picked up as a free agent immediately following the draft by the Bengals.
Kumerow will wear No. 84 during Sunday's game, which will kick off at noon Central Time on CBS.
