Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater intercollegiate athletics family were inducted into the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame last Saturday at the league's 2015 Hall of Fame Banquet at UW-Platteville.

J.P. Fisher '62, Nancy Nelson '70 and Ed Schwager '32 were three of 30 new inductees enshrined Saturday by WIAC commissioner Gary Karner. Nearly 300 people were on hand to welcome the 2015 Hall of Fame Class.

Fisher is a former member of the Warhawks' men's basketball and baseball teams. Widely regarded as one of the finest male athletes in the school's history, Fisher was a two-time All-American in basketball and an All-American in baseball.

Nelson earned 13 letters during her standout career at UW-Whitewater, competing in basketball, golf, volleyball, softball and tennis. She was a No. 1 draft choice of the former International Women's Professional Softball Association in 1979.

Following an all-conference career in football and basketball, Schwager served as a coach and administrator for the Warhawks. He was the director of intercollegiate athletics from 1942-71.

Current Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Amy Edmonds accepted the plaque on behalf of Schwager, who passed away in 1992.

All three honorees are members of the UW-Whitewater Athletics Hall of Fame.

The WIAC Hall of Fame originated in 2012 as part of the conference's centennial celebration. Dave Kachel, Forrest Perkins and Martha van Steenderen represented UW-Whitewater as part of the original 30-member class. A new class is to be inducted every three years.
