The No. 25 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team faced its third NCAA Division I program of the spring Sunday, falling 7-0 against UW-Green Bay in a dual match at Western Racquet Club in Green Bay, Wis.

The Warhawks (0-3) were competitive in each of the nine contests, picking up games in all three doubles sets and all 12 singles sets.

The Phoenix (3-2) took all three doubles matches to seize the doubles point. Senior Ben Shklyar (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) and junior Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) were downed 6-3 at the first position, while senior captain Cam Laktash (Crystal Lake, IL/South) and junior Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) fell at No. 2 by the same score.

Sophomores Martin Beck (Minneapolis/South) and Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) suffered a 6-2 setback at the third slot.

In singles play, Treis and freshman Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) nearly won the first set playing at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Treis was outlasted 7-5 in the opening stanza before dropping the second 6-1. Navratil led 5-4 in the first set of his match, but was defeated 7-5, 6-3.

Laktash took six games in his loss at No. 6 singles, while sophomore Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) and Shklyar won five games apiece in setbacks at the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

Humphreys was knocked off 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 slot.

UW-Whitewater's second match of the day against NAIA scholarship program Cardinal Stritch was canceled as inclement weather in the Milwaukee area made driving conditions unsafe.

The Warhawks resume action Saturday against UW-Oshkosh and Lake Forest (Ill.) at Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn. UW-Whitewater opens with the Titans at 12 p.m., then closes the day at 6 p.m. against Lake Forest.
