Kaitlyn Thill (Belgium/Ozaukee) has been elected to have her jersey hung in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame's "Ring of Honor" in Knoxville, Tennessee. Thill, a 2013-14 Women's Basketball Coaches Association First Team All-American, will be among the many that have had their jersey hung in the Ring of Honor since the opening of the Hall of Fame in 1999. The Ring of Honor is one of the most popular exhibits at the Hall of Fame and is used to "honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future" of women's basketball.
Thill, a four-year starter for the Warhawks, completed her career this past season with an NCAA DIII third place finish. Thill and the Warhawks were participants in the last two Final Fours, including a second place finish in 2012-13, and made NCAA DIII tournament appearances in each of her four years. With Thill the Warhawks won conference championships in 2013 and 2014 and won 21 or more games in each of her four seasons. She leaves the program, and the conference, as the all-time leader in steals with 428. She also leads UW-W in the career categories of games played (122) and free throws made (431). She is among the top ten in five other career categories and finished her career with a 96-26 overall record and a 54-10 record in the WIAC.
Thill will leave UW-W as one of the most decorated women's basketball players in history. Beyond her 2014 WBCA First Team All-American selection she is a four-time WIAC All-Defensive Team selection, three-time WIAC First Team selection, 2013-14 D3hoops.com All-Central Region First Team selection and a 2013-14 D3hoops.com Fourth Team All American.
Her jersey will be displayed from May 2014 to May 2015.
