Dieringer, Pickett Combine for Three National Titles; Regan Coach of the Year

ITHACA, NY -  Allyse Dieringer (Germantown, WI/Germantown) made history Saturday night in the event finals of the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Division III Championships, winning the national title on the uneven bars and balance beam for a school record three individual titles. Courtney Pickett (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) gave Whitewater its fourth individual national champion in the meet with a title on the vault. Katie Fiorilli (Solon, OH/Solon) was the all-around champion Friday. The meet was nearly a UW-Whitewater sweep with the Warhawks winning the national title Friday for the third consecutive season, the all-around title and three of the four event titles. Head Coach Jen Regan was named NCGA Coach of the Year for the third time in her career.

Dieringer scored a 9.8 on the uneven bars to win the title and tie teammate Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) for the top spot in the school record book. She is the third Warhawk to win the title in the event (Ashley George-2009, Talcott-2013). Her performance on the balance beam brought a score of 9.9, breaking the program record in the event for the second straight evening, to win the title for the second time in her career. She was the national champion in the event in 2012 bringing her career total to three national titles, the first Warhawk to win three individual national titles in program history. Dieringer is the second person in school history (any sport) to earn three individual national championships joining Jeremy Wendt from 2003-04 (track and field - hammer throw and weight throw). Dieringer also finished eleventh in the floor exercise Saturday bringing her career total of All-America honors to seven.

Pickett became the second Warhawk to win an individual title in the vault in program history with a 9.775, third in the UW-Whitewater record book. Justine Weyer was a national champion in the vault in 2008 and 2010. Pickett added first team All-America honors on the bars, finishing second with a score of 9.775 and in the floor exercise after tying for sixth with a score of 9.725.

Four more Warhawks combined for eight All-America honors in Saturday's event finals. Fiorilli tied for second on the vault with a score of 9.75 and tied for sixth on the floor with a score of 9.725 for first tyeam honors. She added second team recognition finishing seventh on the bars with a score of 9.525. McKenzie Foster (Manitou Beach, MI/Addison) earned two second team All-America honors with an eighth place finish on the balance beam (9.3) and thirteenth place on the vault (9.575). Talcott tallied her fourth and fifth career All-America honors with first team recognition on the bars (9.65) and second team honors on the floor (9.65). Hannah Lee (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville) finished thirteenth on the vault with a score of 9.575 to earn second team status.
