Ohio Northern University, 18-4 in dual meets, will play Concordia University-Wisconsin, 16-9, in a first round match Friday at 12 pm.  Trinity University (TX), 18-9, received a first round bye and will play the winner of Ohio Northern-Concordia Saturday at 3 pm.  UW-Whitewater, 19-11, will meet Gustavus Adolphus College, 19-11, in another second round match Saturday at 12 pm.  Saturday's winners will meet Sunday at 12 pm for the right to advance to the finals site.

Three of the teams in the Whitewater regional, in addition to UW-W, are nationally ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.  Trinity is eighth in the ITA national poll, Gustavus Adolphus is eighteenth, and UW-Whitewater is twenty-eighth.

UW-Whitewater is making its seventh consecutive NCAA III postseason appearance.  The Warhawks have advanced to the second round five times and to the third round in 2011.  UW-W is 6-6 all-time in NCAA play.

Whitewater has prepared for the national tournament with a demanding schedule.  The Warhawks lost four matches to NCAA Division I opponents, and went 1-6 against teams ranked in the ITA Division III poll.  The Warhawks lost to Gustavus Adolphus 6-3 March 9 on the Gusties' home court in St. Peter, Minnesota. UW-W enters the NCAA III tourney on a twelve match win streak that includes a 6-3 home court win over thirtieth ranked University of Chicago.

Whitewater's lineup has included Ben Shklyar (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) (14-10) at one singles, Byron Balkin (Madison/Memorial) (10-17) at two, Andy McGlashen (Southampton, England/) (20-12) at three, Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) (21-7) in flight four, Andrew Bayliss (Sheboygan/North) (19-12) in five, and Mitch Osborne (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) (24-8) in flight six.  Brian Klein (Brookfield/East) (14-3) has played in the five and six singles spot.  In doubles play recently, UW-W has gone with Osborne and Shklyar (15-8) at one doubles, Bayliss and McGlashen (10-1) at two, and Balkin and Humphreys (8-0) in the third flight.  UW-W has also used Balkin and Osborne (9-4), Balkin and Bayliss (5-7), and Humphreys and McGlashen (5-7).

Gustavus Adolphus received the automatic berth from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Concordia is the representative of the Northern Athletics Conference, Ohio Northern is the Ohio Athletic Conference qualifier, and Trinity won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.  The other schools are from pool B (independents or schools from conferences that do not have an automatic qualifier) and pool C (schools that did not receive their conference automatic bid).  UW-W is a pool B selection because the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference does not sponsor men's tennis.

The Whitewater regional winner will join seven other regional titlists for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match May 20-22 at the Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
