The top ranked UW-Whitewater gymnastics team broke two school records in a 190.075-185.350 win over UW-Oshkosh Saturday, January 26 in Whitewater. The total team score broke the previous record of190.050 set in 2011 and five Warhawks combined to score 47.500 on the uneven bars, a record also previously held by the 2011 team.

The team, as well as multiple individuals, wrote themselves into the UW-W record book throughout the meet. Starting the evening on the vault, the Warhawks swept the top four spots in the event led by
Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) with a 9.550.
Kaitlyn Weber (Kansas City, MO/Oak Park) grabbed second with a 9.5 and
Alexis Byington (Grand Ledge, MI/Grand Ledge) and
Megan Love (Henrico, VA/Godwin) tied for third with 9.475 each. The team totaled 47.275, the eleventh highest vault score in UW-W history.
The record-breaking five on the bars were led by Thompson's 9.7, the highest score of the night and tied for the third best individual score in school history.
Annie Mix (Olive Branch, MS/SBEC), the top ranked gymnast on the uneven bars in Division III, posted a 9.675 for second in the meet and tied for sixth in UW-W history.
Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) and
Mary Kate Young (Lawrenceville, GA/Cullins Hill) tied for third on the apparatus with 9.5.
Kristen Shackleton (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln Way Central)'s 9.625 was the high score on the balance beam and bolstered the team's total of 47.350 in the event, tied for third best in school history.
Hannah Lee (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville) and Thompson tied for third place on the beam with 9.5.
In the final event of the evening, the Warhawks took to the floor. Talcott took top honors in the event with a routine that scored 9.7, tied for third best in school history. Young followed in second with a 9.675, tied for eleventh best in school history. Weber (9.6), Thompson (9.55) and Wischmann (9.425) rounded out the scoring five for Whitewater and combined to score 47.950 in the event, the fifth best team score on the floor in UW-W's record book.
Thompson won the all-around competition with a total of 38.300 in the all-around, tied for the fourth best in school history.
Whitewater will host UW-Eau Claire for the annual breast cancer awareness and alumni meet Saturday, February 2 beginning at 2:00.
