Dieringer Leads Sixth Ranked Tumblers

The UW-Whitewater gymnastics team is ranked sixth in team total averaging 181.138 points per contest according to the most recent GymInfo poll. Allyse Dieringer (Germantown, WI/Germantown) heads the squad on the uneven bars with a 9.7 average score on the apparatus, the top average in the nation.

The Warhawks, as a team, are ranked in the top ten nationally in every event. The team's floor exercise average score of 46.469 is third. UW-W ranks sixth on the uneven bars averaging 44.400 per contest. Whitewater averages team scores of 46.106 on the vault and 44.163 on the balance beam to rank seventh and eighth respectively.

Individually, at least one Warhawk gymnast is ranked in the top twenty in each event including all-around competition. Three tumblers earned spots in the top twenty in the all-around including Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South), eleventh with a 36.169 average, Mary Kate Young (Lawrenceville, GA/Cullins Hill), fifteenth with a 35.500 average and Kaitlyn Weber (Kansas City, MO/Oak Park), seventeenth with a 35.225 average.

Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/) ties for the tenth highest floor exercise average at 9.419. Talcott is joined by teammate Young whose average of 9.317 is eighteenth. Katrin Finch (Boise, ID/Boise) averages 9.050 on the balance beam to rank twentieth. Dieringer's top spot on the bars is supplemented by Young's tie for fourteenth averaging 9.125 and Talcott's 9.119 average that ranks sixteenth. Thompson is ranked seventeenth in the vault averaging 9.381 per contest.

The Warhawks will host UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout Sunday, February 12 at 2:00 in Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
