The UW-Whitewater women's gymnastics team remained unbeaten with a 182.175-177.05 win over Winona State University Friday night in Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Whitewater led after the first rotation, with the Warhawks scoring 46.40 on the vault and Winona 43.175 on the uneven bars. Whitewater's total for the vault is thirtieth in the school record book (which tracks the top 30). The competitors that compiled the mark included
Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South),
Katrin Finch (Boise, ID/Boise),
Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/),
Siri Wischmann (Delano, MN/Delano), and
Kaitlyn Weber (Kansas City, MO/Oak Park).
Winona closed the gap a bit in the second rotation, scoring 44.45 on the vault with Whitewater totaling 44.325 on the uneven bars. Whitewater led 90.725-87.625.
The Warriors pulled even closer in rotation three, scoring 45.825 on the floor exercise as UW-W scored 44.90 on the balance beam, closing Whitewater's lead to 135.625-133.45.
UW-Whitewater came up with the seventeenth best floor exercise team total, 46.55, in the final rotation to hold off Winona, which scored 43.60 on the beam. Whitewater's floor group consisted of Talcott, Thompson, Weber, Wischmann and
Leah Applin (Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park).
Warhawks swept first place in all four specialties and the all-around competition. Thompson won the vault and beam events with identical 9.475 scores, and captured the all-around title with 37.15 points. Talcott won the uneven bars at 9.25 and the floor exercise with her 9.425.
The Warhawk gymnastics team hosts five of its seven regular season matches this year. Next up, UW-W will host UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout February 12 at 2:00 in Williams Center.
