Kate McDonnell (Aurora, IL/West Aurora) and
Jessica Stang (Minnetonka, MN/Minnetonka) have been named the UW-Whitewater players of the week for their performances against UW-Stout, Lawrence, UW-River Falls, and Illinois Wesleyan.
McDonnell, second baseman, went 13-28 this week batting .464 and scoring 7 runs with 6 RBI's on the side. Additionally, McDonnell had the winning hit against UW-Stout in the bottom of the tenth.
Stang, pitcher, went 4-2 this week also recording 2 saves. Stang had three shutout wins against Lawrence, UW-Stout, and UW-River Falls. The Lawrence game was a no-hitter; one walk from a perfect game. Stang's numbers this week include 40.2 IP, 26 K's, 27 hits allowed, and 4 earned runs for an era of .69.
The Warhawks will get ready for WIAC softball tournament action on May 7th and 8th hosted by UW-Oshkosh. Regional games begin May 13th, with UW-Whitewater playing the role of host institution.
