LeBeau Earns Academic All-America Honor

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater senior shortstop Amanda LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards) has been named ESPN The Magazine's Third Team College Division Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

LeBeau was chosen as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Judy Kruckman Scholar Athlete for softball for 2010. A First Team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference pick in 2008 and 2009, added All-WIAC Honorable Mention recognition in 2010.   A third team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Midwest Region pick, she led UW-W with a .381 average, adding five homers and 40 runs batted in.

Her academic resume' includes a double major in accounting and finance, and a 3.65 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).  She also earned First Team Academic All-District honors from the CoSIDA the last two years, was a two time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athlete, and has been on the WIAC's Scholastic Honor Roll each year at UW-W.  In addition, LeBeau has been on the Dean's List six semesters, has been on the UW-W athletic department Academic Achievement Award list three years, and earned a Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award this spring.  She is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma and Golden Key honor societies.

The CoSIDA honor emphasizes academic qualifications while also including athletic accomplishments, and campus and community service.  The College Division includes National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III teams, NCAA II schools, and National Intercollegiate Athletic Association member institutions.  The recognition is not automatically conferred when meeting a grade or achievement standard, but is competitive on a national ballot.  As a first team all-district pick, LeBeau was listed along with the first team selections from seven other regions on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.

LeBeau continues a tradition of academic performance for the Warhawk softball team.  Her honor is the eleventh time since 1984 that a player has been honored on the CoSIDA national team.  The list follows.
