For their performances in the Benedictine Eagle Invitational, senior
Danielle Anton (Marshall/Marshall) and junior
Sara Poppe (Germantown/Kettle Moraine Lutheran) have been named this week's UW-Whitewater Women''s Track and Field Athletes of the Week. Poppe also was awarded WIAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Anton earned her honors by winning the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.81. The next closest competitor finished 1.06 seconds behind her.
Poppe earned her honors by winning the triple jump with a distance of 11.98m (39'-3.75"), a jump that met provisional qualifying standards. Not only did she win the event, but broke a UW-Whitewater record, and is currently atop WIAC and National perforance lists.
The Warhawks' next meet is scheduled for Wednesday April 21, when they will travel to Naperville, Ill. to compete in the Old Fashion Meet. Some Warhawks will also be competing in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA scheduled for April 23-25. However, most Warhawks will be competing in the
Jeff Miller Alternative Meet scheduled for Saturday April 24 beginning at 10 am.
