UW-Whitewater sophomore gymnast Leah Applin (Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park) and freshman Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) were both named UW-W gymnasts of the week in their win over Gustavus Adolphus Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. The Warhawks topped the Golden Gusties 180.725 to 169.80.

In the win, Leah Applin (Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park) had a score of 9.0 or higher in all three events that she competed in. Applin took fifth on the vault with 9.05, second on the balance beam with 9.125 and fifth on the floor exercise with 9.05. She was named the event specialist for the Warhawks.

Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South), the Warhawk all-around nominee, won three out of the five events that she had competed in. Thompson took first in the all-around with a 37.00, on the vault with 9.20 and on balance beam with 9.25. She also took second in uneven bars and the floor exercise with 9.25 and 9.30 respectively. Her uneven bars score was also a personal best.
