Weyer and Young named UW-W Gymnastics Athletes of the Week

Senior Justine Weyer (Colgate/Germantown) and freshman Mary Kate Young (Lawrenceville, GA/Cullins Hill) were named this week's UW-W Gymnastics Athletes of the Week.

Weyer earned her honors by winning the balance beam event with a score of 9.7, a personal best and the second highest score in UW-W history. She also won the uneven bars event with a score of 9.575, which also helped to break the team school record in the event.

Young in only her second collegiate meet competing in the all-around, placed second in the event with a score of 37.3, a new personal best. She also set a new personal best in the floor exercise in a second place finish with a score of 9.475. Mary Kate also finished second in the balance beam with a score of 9.45, fourth in the uneven bars with a score of 9.175, and fifth in the vault with a score of 9.20

Both Weyer and Young helped the Warhawks to their third win of the season and the highest team points total of the season with 185.775. The Warhawks' next meet is February 12, when they will travel to Winona State University. The meet begins at 6:30 pm.
