#16 Tops #21, Warhawks Top Pointers

UW-Whitewater, ranked sixteenth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll, defeated number twenty-one UW-Stevens Point 20-13 in Point Friday night.

Match started at 184 pounds

The team matchup featured three nationally ranked wrestlers and all three won.  Whitewater's Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East), number one in Division III at 141 pounds, raised his record to 30-2 with a win.  Bautista is just three wins away from tying Rob Llorca's school record of 133 career wins.  Point's Joe Mileski, ranked eighth at 125, and second ranked Ben Engelland at 184 also won.

UW-W also picked up points from Kyle Wachholder (Salem/Westosha Central) at 133 (19-10 this season), Matt Schuck (Burlington/Burlington Catholic Central) at 149 (13-14), Corey Schmidt (Homewood, IL/Homewood Flossmoor) at 157 (7-9), Adam Latella (Rockton, IL/Hononegah) at 197 (19-9) and heavyweight Jon Schmidt (Menomonee Falls/Hartford) (8-3).

The Warhawks are 7-4-1 in dual meets, 3-1 versus Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition.  

UW-W will compete in the Blugold Invite hosted by UW-Eau Claire Saturday, February 6.  The Warhawks' final home appearance of the season will be Thursday, February 11 at 7:00 in Williams Center versus UW-Platteville.
