Brooke Bell (Milwaukee/Alexander Hamilton) won both dashes,
Shelby Demos (Janesville/Parker) the high jump, and
Sara Poppe (Germantown/Kettle Moraine Lutheran) the triple jump to lead the Warhawks at the Eastbay Invitational in Stevens Point Saturday. But it was how they won that grabbed attention.

The trio also led a parade of school records, NCAA III provisional times and NCAA III automatic qualifiers. Bell, an All-American sprinter, is running her best at just the right time. Bell won the 55 meters in 7.10, meeting the automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA III championship and breaking the school record of 7.11 set by Camille Ross in 2000. Bell also ran a 25.52 to win the 200 meters. Demos won the high jump at 5-8 to break the school record she set earlier this winter as well as meet the automatic qualifyinig standard for the national meet, then added more team points with a third place finish in the 55 meter hurdles (8.52). The finals time put her in the school record book and gave her a NCAA III championship provisional performance. Poppe won the triple jump with a distance of 38-1.5, besting her own school record by one centimeter.
Rachel Puls (Hartford/Slinger) and
Jessa Luebke (Tomah/Tomah) added team points in two events apiece. Puls was third in the triple jump behind Poppe (35-2) and fifth in the long jump (16-6.75). Luebke finished fourth in both the shot put (42-3.25) and weight throw (52-0.5), with her distance in the shot bettering the NCAA III provisional qualifying distance from earlier this season.
Several other Warhawks contributed to the team point total. #Kristen Heitsman finished fourth behind Bell in the 55 (7.53),
Ryanne Bell (Boscobel/Boscobel) was fourth in the pole vault (10-8),
Alyssa Duncan (East Troy/East Troy) placed seventh in the mile (5:26.30),
Jen Taylor (Whitewater/Whitewater) was seventh in the 5000 (20:17.71), and
JoLyn Owen (Middleton/Middleton) added to Puls' points in the long jump with an eighth place finish (16-3.25).
UW-Whitewater will compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship February 26-27 at UW-Platteville.
