UW-W is in fourth place after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by UW-River Falls at the University of Minnesota pool. The meet will continue Friday and conclude Saturday.
To avoid repetition, it was a season best performance. In every event Thursday, women and men, preliminaries or finals, UW-Whitewater recorded its fastest time of the season
UW-W's top finish Thursday was turned in by two relay teams. The 200 freestyle relay of Megan Kohnke (Milwaukee/Riverside), Kaylyn Howley (Sheboygan/Sheboygan South), Courtney Jenkins (Gurnee, IL/Gunee), and Lisa Dlugopolski (Mequon/Homestead) finished fourth in 1:49.95; and Kaitlyn Kincaid, Kristen Jahn (Wonderlake, IL/McHenry), Jenkins and Kohnke combined to place fourth in the 400 medley relay in 3:59.98.
The top finishers in other finals were Kohnke, fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:16.99; tenth by #Dlugolpolski in the 50 freestyle in 25.23; and thirteenth by Randi Osgood (Muskego/Muskego) in the 200 individual medley in 2:16.84.
Team scores after day one are UW-Stevens Point 276, Uw-La Crosse 262, UW-Eau Claire 162, UW-Whitewater 131, UW-Oshkosh 100, and UW-River Falls 28.
