The UW-Whitewater Women’s Soccer team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Ethics Award for the 2009 season.
The award recognizes the teams who exhibit honesty, good sporting behavior; follow the laws of the game and the team who has the lowest number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards that the referees use throughout the season.
UW-Whitewater was one of 45 teams that claimed the Silver Award, which is the award given to the teams who accumulate no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards per season.
There were a total of 68 teams that received or earned gold, silver or bronze awards. Nine intercollegiate teams received the Gold Team Ethics Award for completing the entire 2009 season without receiving either a yellow or red card. The Bronze award went to 14 teams, which is presented to teams that receive no reds and a maximum of 10 yellows.
