The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team split into two squads and finished twelfth and thirtieth out of a field of 46 teams taking part in the Blue and Gold Classic this past weekend in South Bend, Indiana.

Ashley Keclik (Hoffman Estates, IL/Fremd) led the way for the Warhawks, finishing 41st out of 368 bowlers. On the first day, Keclik bowled a 184, 168 and 198 for a 550 series. Day two she rolled a 179 and a 177, making her total pins at 906.
Whitney Kueltzo (Homer Glen, IL/Lockport Township) followed by placing 56th, who rolled a 180, 160 and a 170, series of 510. She finished strong on her final day, rolling a 180 and a 192, knocking down 882 total pins. The high game for the 'Hawks came by
Kayla Schmidt (Johnston, IA/Johnston), who rolled a 222.
Wichita State University won the competition with a total pin fall of 4754, followed by the University of Central Florida at 4731 and Lindenwood University with 4439. Whitewater "Purple" totaled 4306 and Whitewater "Black" had a pin fall of 3881. Krystal Gravelle of Erie Community College was the individual titlest with 1045 pins, just ahead of Jenn Bossielle of Central Florida at 1023 in second.
The Warhawks will travel to Reading, Pennsylvania to participate in the Kutztown invite beginning Friday, January 29th and for the three day event. There will be 28 teams participating in the event, including fifteen of the top twenty teams from the latest National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) poll.
