The UW-Whitewater wrestling team, ranked seventeenth in the latest Brute/Adidas poll, defeated Trine University 23-19, Harper College 39-7 and Waubonsee Community College 33-14 after tying with Elmhurst College 19-19 to start the Border Brawl Duals in Whitewater Saturday afternoon.
Results
James Zarate (Waukesha/North) had a stellar day for the Warhawks pinning all three of his opponents in the 285 weight class, the fastest just 49 seconds into the match. Zarate ups his record this season to 21-9 with 10 pins.
Brian Lewis (Verona/Verona) also recorded two pins at 141 pounds in 1:00 and 1:26 going 4-0 in the duals and is now 14-7 on the season.
Four other Warhawks pinned the competition including
Corey Schmidt (Homewood, IL/Homewood Flossmoor) at 157,
Andy Rutke (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls) at 157,
Reid Dickerson (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) at 174, and
Adam Latella (Rockton, IL/Hononegah) at 197.

Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East) improves his season mark to 24-2 with two more wins.
UW-W will travel to Wheaton, IL to compete in the Wheaton Invitation January 29-30. The Warhawks will host senior night against UW-Platteville February 11 at 7:00 pm.
