Women Tankers Split Duals

The UW-Whitewater women's swimming and diving team split a pair of dual meets Saturday in the Williams Center pool, defeating UW-Oshkosh 158-137 and losing to UW-Stevens Point 214-83.

Although the meet was scored as separate duals, UW-W did have several performances that were the fastest in the pool Saturday.  Anne Leupold (Brookfield/Brookfield East) has the fastest time in the 1000 freestyle (11:01.71), Kaitlyn Kincaide's 100 backstroke (1:02.44), and the 200 butterfly of Courtney Jenkins (Gurnee, IL/Gunee) (2:19.84) earned first place in both meets.  Kristen Jahn (Wonderlake, IL/McHenry) added two times that were second bests, in the 100 (1:10.20) and 200 (2:31.78) breaststrokes.  The 400 medley relay of Michelle Doyle (Franklin/Greendale), Megan Kohnke (Milwaukee/Riverside), Jenkins and Jahn was also second with a 4:14.26.

The meet closed the 2009-2010 home season for the Warhawks.  UW-W will compete at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Friday-Saturday, January 22-23, with the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Minneapolis one month away.
