Gymnasts Open Season In Cali
Justine Weyer Third in Record Book
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team opened its 2010 season in a quadrangular meet hosted by the University of California-Davis, with San Jose State University winning the meet with 191.8, UC-Davis second at 191.0, California State-Fullerton at 188.0, and UW-W with 181.725.

Justine Weyer tied for fourth place in the vault to lead UW-W performances.  Weyer's score of 9.75 is the third best in school history.  Annie Mix tied for tenth on the uneven parallel bars, with her 9.55 tied for thirteenth in the Warhawk record book.  Katie Thompson was Whitewater's top performer on the balance beam, tying for seventh place with a score of 9.35.  Mary Kate Young led UW-W in the floor exercise, with her 9.45 tying for eleventh place.

The Warhawks also started the season with three team entries in the top twenty in the school's record book.  Each of the team entries totals five individual scores.  The vault unit of Leah Applin, Katrin Finch, Allison Nelson, Siri Wischman and Weyer totaled 46.675 for tenth in the record book.  The balance beam quintet of Veronica Overby, Katie Thompson, Weyer, Wischman and Young totaled 44.9 points for eleventh place.  And the floor exercise team of #Amanda Smith#, Young, Wischman, Thompson and Applin earned 46.15 for the seventeenth best score on the record list.

Lily Swanson of San Jose won the vault with a 9.825, Thomasina Wallace of San Jose won the uneven bars with a 9.925, and Cami Casimere of Cal State Fullerton had the top score on the beam at 9.675.  Katie Yamamura of UC-Davis won the floor exercise with a 9.75, and Wallace earned the top all-around score of 38.70.

UW-W will open the home portion of the 2010 schedule Saturday, January 16 at 2:00, hosting UW-La Crosse in the gymnastics area of Williams Center on the UW-W campus.
