Michelle Daciolas (Roselle, IL/Lake Park) advanced to the quarterfinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Tournament in both singles and doubles in Saint Peter, Minnesota September 25-27.

Daciolas, who usually plays number four or five singles for UW-W, won her first three matches in the tourney before falling to Ali O'Neil of host Gustavus Adolphus College 6-1, 6-0 in the round of eight. Daciolas is 7-2 this fall.
Daciolas also teamed up with
Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial), the ITA regional singles champion last year, to go 2-1 and advance to the quarterfinals of the doubles tourney. The Warhawk duo fell to Kathryn Schmidt and Erin Gudul of Carleton College 8-5 in the final eight. UW-W's number one doubles team, Schaefer and Daciolas are 9-3 this season.
After losing her first match,
Amy Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) went on to win the next five to claim the singles consolation championship.
Annie Smith (Algonquin, IL/H.D. Jacobs) and
Ingrid Stensvaag (Palatine, IL/Palatine) also won the doubles consolation championship defeating Gustavus Adolphus College 8-3 in the final.
There are no team scores kept at the regional.
Running concurrently with the ITA Midwest Regional, which is typically for each team's top four players, is the Midwest Fall Invitational, which includes each team's remaining competitors.
Lauren Aguilar (Gurnee, IL/Carmel Catholic ) went 6-0 and won the singles championship and
Sydney Divelbiss (Middleton/Middleton) reached the semifinals.
On the doubles side the UW-W women took three of the four spots in the semifinals.
Megan Kasten (Verona/Verona) and
Marta Kinsman (Jefferson/Jefferson) paired up to face off against
Abby Martin (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) and Divelbiss in one semifinal match while
Kathleen Kappel (Madison/Madison East) and Aguilar paired up to win the other semifinal. The duo of Martin and Divelbiss advanced to the semifinals to set up the all-Warhawk finals. Kappel and Aguilar went on to win the doubles crown.
UW-Whitewater, winners of the last two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles, will host UW-Oshkosh at 3:30 and Wisconsin Lutheran College at 6:30 Wednesday on the Wangerin Courts south of Williams Center on campus. There is no admission charge.
