The Warhawk women's soccer team fell to defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion UW-Stevens Point 2-1 at the Point Soccer Bowl in Stevens Point Saturday afternoon.

box score

The Pointers scored almost before the echos of the Star Spangled Banner had fallen, just 0:34 in, with Jackie Spees scoring her fifth of the season.  The Pointers had eight shots and Whitewater five in the first half, but UW-SP still led 1-0 at the intermission.

Sam Greer gave Point some insurance with a goal at 63:33, but Whitewater's Emily Gerber cut the margin in half at 76:52, unassisted.  Gerber's goal was her teams high eleventh of the season, already among the top ten single season marks with just half the season completed.

UW-Whitewater is 5-4 overall, 1-1 in the WIAC.  UW-SP is 6-2 and 4-0.

UW-W will host UW-Platteville Wednesday at 5:00 at Robert W. Fiskum Field on campus.  The field is north of Kachel Fieldhouse, west of Perkins Stadium.
