UW-Whitewater hosted the Warhawk Invite today, featuring players from Beloit College, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, and UW-Whitewater.

In the A Doubles Draw bracket of the Warhawk Invite, UW-Whitewater tandem
Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial) and
Michelle Daciolas (Roselle, IL/Lake Park) cruised to the championship match by winning first round play 6-1, 6-1 and second round play 6-2, 6-2. In the championship match, Schaefer and Daciolas lost the first set 6-7, but won the next two sets 6-2, 6-1 to win their bracket.
Crystal Zhao (Hohhot, China/No. 28 High School of Hohhot) won the C Singles Draw bracket by winning her opening round match 4-6, 6-2, 10-6. In the semifinal round, Zhao won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. To win the championship match, Zhao won 6-4, 6-2 against fellow Warhawk,
Kelly Foster (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West ).
Although
Annie Smith (Algonquin, IL/H.D. Jacobs) did not win the championship match of the A Singles Draw bracket, she looked very impressive winning both of her first two matches, both with a score of 6-4, 6-0. In the championship match, Smith played Ali Hinman of UW-Stout, however, she did not come out on top, losing 6-3, 5-7, 6-7 (8-6) in a tie-breaker.
The Warhawks will next play at 9am on September 19, here at the Wangerin Courts against UW-River Falls.
