Weyer Wins Conference/Regional Uneven Bars, UW-W Second

Justine Weyer won the uneven bars and UW-W, ranked number one in the latest national Division III poll, formally punched its ticket to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship with a second place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/NCGA West Regional hosted by Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota Friday night.

Weyer scored a 9.5 on the bars to capture her title, edging Meghan Margens of UW-Stout who scored a 9.4.   Danielle Crinzi tied for third (9.375) and Ashley George was seventh (9.25) on the uneven bars.

Whitewater's other top finishes included George, third on the balance beam with a 9.55.  George was joined by teammates Leah Applin (9.3, sixth) and Katrin Finch (9.225, tied seventh) in the top ten.  In the vault Alison Nelson placed third (9.575), Weyer was fourth (9.55), and Crinzi was tenth (9.40).  The top finisher in the floor exercise was Weyer, ninth (9.525). 

Weyer placed fourth in the all-around competition with 37.525, one spot ahead of her teammate, George, with a 37.425.

Whitewater made four entries in the top ten in the school record book.  The team vault totaled 47.00 points, sixth in the record book.  That group included Weyer, Nelson, George, Finch, and Crinzi.  The uneven bars team compiled a total of 46.0, the third best mark in school history.  The quintet included Weyer, George, Crinzi, Katie Cosentino, and Lauren Corrigan. The Floor scores compiled totaled out to 46.850 which is eighth best in school history. That group included Weyer, Korte, George, Finch, and Applin. The fourth and final record was the final Team score which totaled out to be 185.100 which ranks seventh in the record book.

The Warhawks will compete in the NCGA Championship, hosted by Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Friday-Saturday, Marcfh 20-21.
