University of Wisconsin - Whitewater cross country and track and field standout Brian Butzler (Beloit/Beloit Turner), was recognized in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel today for his dedication to training while serving the Army Reserve in Afghanistan.

Butzler has earned All-American honors in both cross country and track and field and holds the UW-Whitewater school record for the indoor mile, 1500 meter, 4 x 400 meter relay, and 4 x 800 meter relay.  He plans to return to UW-Whitewater next month where he will pursue an education degree.  Butzler has one season of eligibility remaining in track and field and plans to use it upon his return.
