Warhawks Come Back to Defeat Titans

UW-Whitewater, ranked nineteenth in the national Division III poll, raised its dual meet record to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 22-17 win over UW-Oshkosh Thursday night at the Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

The Warhawks trailed 17-12 with three weight classes remaining.  UW-W's Sean Pietrzyk edged Sam Laes 10-9 at 184, David Casper scored a major decision over Aaron Erickson at 197, and James Zarate sealed the win with a 4-2 decision at 285 pounds.

Zarate's win gave him a record of 15-5, the most victories on the UW-W team.  Wachholder is now 7-4, Bautista 12-2, Schuck 7-6, Pietrzyk 8-2, and Casper 8-3.  Bautista is ranked fifth in the National Wrestling Coaches Division III poll at 141 pounds.

UW-Whitewater will compete in the Duals in the Dells (Wisconsin Dells), facing Saint John's (MN) and Heidelberg (OH) December 12.  The next home match for the Warhawks will be December 16 at 7:00 when UW-W hosts Division II UW-Parkside in the annual Sake Bottle match.
