Emily Gerber scored three goals in the first half of a 7-0 UW-Whitewater victory over Finlandia University on Friday at Robert W. Fiskum field in Whitewater.  The last time a Warhawk women's soccer player notched a hat trick was when Mary Donohoo scored three in a 5-0 victory over Lakeland College on September 6, 2008.  Gerber has scored sixteen goals this season and leads the team as well as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  The win propels the 'Hawks to 7-5-0 while the loss pushes the Lions to 1-9-0.

UW-W scored early and often in the game.  Their first goal, by Gerber, was in the fifth minute.  Assisting on the early goal were Stacey Schultz and Stephanie DesJardins.  An unassisted goal by Pamela Lisowe in the eleventh minute gave UW-W a 2-0 lead.

Becky Cera scored her third goal of the year and the third of the game off of an assist from Kelsey Finn in the 19th minute to push UW-W's lead to three.

Gerber scored two more goals, one in the 21st minute and one in the 23rd minute, to give UW-W a 5-0 lead.  Cera and Sara Brown assisted one goal while Schultz assisted on the other.

Jenna Samp scored her first goal of the season on a corner kick later in the first half.  This gave the 'Hawks a six goal cushion going into halftime.  The Warhawks fired 27 shots in the first half, 17 on goal.

The final Warhawk goal was scored by Megan Schlecht in just a minute and a half into the second half.

Warhawk goalkeeper Mary Scanlin had an uneventful night facing zero shots in the game.

UW-W will play again on Saturday in Whitewater against conference foe UW-Eau Claire at 5:00 pm.  The Blugolds are 5-0-0 in the WIAC and 8-3-1 overall.
