UW-Whitewater had its best tournament score of the season while finishing second in the Stevens Point Invite, played Saturday and Sunday at the Stevens Point Country Club in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

UW-W golfers combined to total 671 strokes over the two days, their best two-day total this fall. The squad's 335 for eighteen holes Sunday is second best this year.
Chelsea Davis, the Warhawks' leader in stroke average, led the team again with a third place in the individual standings. Davis' 163, on rounds of 79-84, is the second best 36-hole score this season. Teammate Emily Kuiper was right behind Davis in fourth, going 88-77=165, and Melissa Ellis placed sixth with 82-84=166. Kuiper's second day 77 is tied for the second best individual eighteen on the team this fall.
Team standings were UW-Stevens Point 661, UW-Whitewater 671, UW-Stout 723, UW-Platteville 730, UW-Oshkosh 777, and UW-River Falls 824. Jessica Urban of UW-Stevens Point was the medalist at 151, with Pointer Mary Donohue ten strokes back in second.
UW-W went in to the Point Invite having won their last three tournaments. UW-SP was the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III runnerup last year.
The Warhawks streak comes at a good time, with the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship up next, Friday-Saturday October 9-10 at the Northern Bay Golf Resort and Marina in Arkdale, Wisconsin.
