University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

The UW-Whitewater doubles team of Kelvin Caiati and Danny Glinert advanced to the quarterfinals in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Midwest Regional hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College (MN).  The rain delayed tournament will conclude Monday.

Glinert and Caiati combined to win their first two doubles matches.  They also both went 3-1 to advance to the round of sixteen in singles play before being eliminated. 

The ITA regional draws the top Division III teams in the midwest.  UW-Whitewater advanced to the second round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III tournament last year.

A second tournament, the Midwest Open, is played in conjunction with the ITA Regional, with the top players on each team playing the the ITA.  Whitewater's R.J. Rademacher and Ben Schwarz faced each other in the semifinals with Rademacher coming out on top. R.J lost in the finals to end up with a 5-1 record.  

The ITA is the only competition of the fall for the Warhawk men, whose primary season is spring.  UW-W will resume action in January, beginning with a match at the University of Wisconsin-Madison January 23.  The first home match of the season will be February 12 against Hope College (MI).
