Warhawks Finish 6th at WIAC Championship
2009 WIAC XC Championship
The UW-Whitewater women's cross country team finished sixth at the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship on the campus of UW-Whitewater.  The Warhawks' top finisher was Madeline Roznos who finished twentieth in the race.  The 20th place finish is the second best by a UW-W runner in the past three years.  The best finish was a 16th place finish by Jennifer Rogers in 2007.

Championship Day Photos

Roznos' time of 23:50 is the seventh best time by a UW-W runner this season and Roznos' second best.  Conditions were cold and windy for the championship where the best time was by Ayla Mitchell of UW-Oshkosh who ran the six kilometer course in 22:01. Mitchell finished second in the 2008 championship and first in 2007.

Other Warhawk runners were Jackie Nett (24:21), Andrea Newman (24.22), Katie McCabe (24:28), Alyssa Duncan (24:47), Eileen Hyland (25:08), Wendy Wise (25:16), Jen Taylor (25:15), Kristi Egnarski (25:31), Danielle Anton (25:33), Katie Wagner (26:11), and Bridgette Jordan (26:42).

Team results were: UW-Eau Claire (29), UW-La Crosse (57), UW-Oshkosh (71), UW-Stevens Point (111), UW-Platteville (151), UW-Whitewater (161), UW-River Falls (201), and UW-Stout (213). The victory for UW-Eau Claire is their third consecutive and fifth overall.

The top five finishers were: Mitchell, Alyssa Sybilrud of UW-Eau Claire (22:19), Hannah Humbach of UW-Eau Claire (22:22), Stephanie Perleberg of UW-La Crosse (22:26), and Katelyn Williams of UW-La Crosse (22:29).

The top seven runners received All-WIAC first team recognition, while runners placing eighth through 14th earned All-WIAC second team accolades. Individuals finishing 15th through 20th claimed honorable mention recognition.

The WIAC championship concludes regular season competition for the women's team.
