The UW-Whitewater men's soccer team defeated Northwood University, a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II team, 3-2 on Tuesday at Robert W. Fiskum Field in Whitewater. The game was the final regular season home game for the Warhawks as well as senior night. The Warhawks honored their two seniors,
Luke Mangognia and
Matt Gehn in a post-game ceremony. The win gives the Warhawks a 10-5-3 overall record while the Timberwolves fall to 5-8-2.

UW-W got on the scoreboard first with a goal by
Trevor Swentik in the tenth minute of the game. The goal was Swentik's fifth of the season and was unassisted.
The 'Hawks built their lead to 2-0 after a second half goal by
Billy Vranek, the first of his collegiate career, assisted by
Zach Rewasiewicz and
Kevin Grimstad.
Northwood battled back to pull within one on an unassisted goal by Kyle Schoenmaker.
Whitewater answered just eight minutes later to go up 3-1 on a goal by
Sean Gilbert off of a pass from
Ryan Boyd.
The Timberwolves scored one more goal with less than three minutes remaining in the game to push the game to 3-2. Northwood was unable to tie the game although they made a strong attack in the waning moments.
Northwood outshot the 'Hawks 14-9 in the game. UW-W was whistled for 14 fouls compared to 9 for the Timberwolves.
UW-W goalkeeper
Eugene Nagawiecki played all ninety minutes in the net and made four saves.
The Warhawks are off until November 7 when they travel to UW-Oshkosh to close out regular season competition.
