Schmidt Leads UW-W in Season Opening Competition

Kayla Scymidt led the UW-Whitewater bowling team to a seventh place finish in the field of twenty-three teams at the Kegel/ISBPA Classic in Addison, Illinois Saturday and Sunday. Schmidt placed eleventh out of 155 bowlers.

Whitewater totaled 6816 pins in the qualifying rounds for seventh. Wichita State University led the field with a score of 8063, followed by McKendree College at 7180 and Robert Morris (IL) at 7180.
The top eight teams after six qualifying games advanced to an elimination round, where UW-W (314) was defeated by McKendree (404), Robert Morris (380) and Wichita State (321).
Heather Kowalski rolled Whitewater's top game of the tourney, a 226 Saturday. Sarah Stettner was the only Warhawk to record two 200+ games, with a 207 and a 204. Ashley Keclik bowled the top series for UW-W, going 177-199-192=568.

Keclik, Stettner, and Schmidt were joined by Candice Schmidt and Whitney Kueltzo to combine for the high Baker game of the weekend, rolling 220.
UW-Whitewater will travel to Elmwood Park, New Jersey to compete in the Fright Knight Invite hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University Thursday-Sunday, October 29-November 1.
